Find Out About My Ministry

What is Power to Change Apologetics?

The Power to Change Apologetics team is an evangelical, inter-denominational Christian ministry. It is a subsidiary ministry within the larger organization of Power to Change Students. Power to Change Students has an evangelistic presence in every province, and does ministry work in 60 different college and university campuses across Canada. The goal of the apologetics ministry is to reach, teach, and equip, young individuals on the University campuses across Canada; seeking to provide credible answers to the curious questions in order that they may know Jesus and experience His power to change the world.

As a ministry we believe that Christians live in between the two great callings of the great commission, to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 18:19) and Peter’s apologetic calling to “always be prepared to give an answer” (1 Pet. 3:15). However, navigating between these two callings on a day-to-day basis is easier said than done. Many young individuals go off to university and college and encounter a spiritually hostile environment on the campuses. We as a team seek to help to provide answers, resources, and opportunities for individuals seeking to strengthen their faith. For those who are curious about Christianity, and to reach out to those who may never been presented the gospel clearly. Many young people in university and college encounter what are perceived to be intellectual issues and barriers towards the gospel, our goal is to clear away those barriers by giving credible answers and speaking truth, in order that the gospel is made all the more clearer and that they may come to a saving knowledge to passionately follow Jesus Christ.

My Part

My personal story includes a period of time during my later teen years when I searched for answers. A time when I differentiated my faith from that of my parents and explored the nagging intellectual doubts and questions that I had pertaining to the faith I was raised in. Through the grace of God, as well as the gifts and opportunities that He gave me I was able to evaluate the Christian world-view over and above that of other worldview perspectives. However, many young people go through this same searching without the proper tools, resources, and opportunities that were available to me. Made all the more concrete upon going into the spiritually hostile environment of the university/college setting. A fact that often leads young individuals to leave their faith and the Church community.

As a member of the Power to Change Apologetics team my job is multi-faceted. I seek to teach, equip, and reach students on the university campuses in Ontario and eventually across Canada as a whole for the glory of God. This is done through the means of forums, talks, Q&As, and evangelism outreach. Likewise, our goal as an apologetics outreach is to partner with a number of church youth groups and young adults groups in order to equip students who are going into university settings, as well as those who are already involved in formal study within the institutions. With a background of formal study in biblical theology and the textual reliability of the New Testament, my area of focus pertains to issues surrounding the reliability of the Bible and Islamic apologetics. I do a number of talks on the reliability of the New Testament, issues concerning “lost gospels” and apocryphal material, as well as interfaith dialogue between groups such as Muslims, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and atheists.

My goal is to reach out to individuals who may be struggling, to show them that the faith that we possess is an informed one, and that there are evidences and reasons to believe it. I want people to encounter God on a personal level and develop a passion in understanding His power to change the world. To truly love the Lord their God with all of their hearts, all of their souls, all of their strength, and all of their mind (Deut. 6:4-5; Matt. 22:37; Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27).

How You Can Help

“In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.”
– Paul, 1 Corinthians 9:14

Power to Change, like many other missions organizations, depends on financial and spiritual partnership to carry out the ministry. All of my salary and ministry expenses are raised through monthly donations and the financial help of like-minded individuals. In fact, partnership between believers is at the heart of God’s plan. In the Old Testament, the whole priestly tribe of the Levites were supported by the rest of God’s people and the community (Numbers 18:21-24.

Jesus’ own ministry was supported and funded by those who heard his message (Luke 8:1-3) and similarly taught the disciples to trust on the support of others while ministering (Matthew 10:5-15). Likewise, Paul received support from some of the first church communities. In fact, Paul’s letter to the Philippians is a letter of gratification for the financial support they provided. Paul explicitly teaches in Galatians 6:6 that, “the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor,” a passage traditionally interpreted as Paul encouraging the church in Galatians to financially provide for local missionaries.

None of the work that either the Power to Change Apologetics Team, or myself as a member, can be carried out and accomplished without the help of financial and spiritual partnership. If you feel moved by what I am doing, or feel that the work that myself (and our team) are trying to accomplish on the university campuses across Canada is valuable, please think and pray about supporting me in this endeavor.

The support that you provide goes directly into my personal account with Power to Change. Likewise, not only is Power to Change a registered charity, but also helped cofound the Canadian Council of Christian Charities, so every donation that is provided is tax refundable and you can know that the money you give is undergirded with accountability.
